The verified architecture of this Arch session

Last updated: 2026-08-24 · LIVE SYSTEM · captured during the latest audit

Arch Linux → Wayland → Hyprland
├── Caelestia Shell / Quickshell
│ └── bar · launcher · sidebar · notifications
└── Kitty/Zsh · Thunar · LibreWolf · applications

Text alternative: Arch runs a Hyprland Wayland session. Caelestia provides the desktop shell while Hyprland manages applications and workspaces.

OK

Hyprland with three displays

CONFIG DP-1 is configured as the central/main 144 Hz display, DVI-D-1 as the rotated left 144 Hz display, and HDMI-A-1 as the right 60 Hz display.
OK

Caelestia Shell

CONFIG Bar, dashboard, launcher, sidebar, and session menu are enabled.
OK

Kitty and Zsh

CONFIG $terminal = kitty; shell documentation never reads command history.
Hyprland → polkit/swww/tumbler/mako → systemd user environment
→ portals → monitor stabilisation → Caelestia/Quickshell
→ delayed Spotify and GoofCord startup

The active configuration also applies adw-gtk3-dark and Vivid-Glassy-Dark-Icons through gsettings at login.

Arch supplies packages and the base user space. Wayland is the protocol boundary between applications, input/output devices, and the compositor. Hyprland composes surfaces, assigns workspaces, evaluates window rules, and dispatches bindings. Caelestia/Quickshell is the visible shell: it does not replace Hyprland’s window management. Kitty hosts Zsh; Thunar and LibreWolf remain separate applications.

LayerConfirmed sourceWhat it controls
Hyprlandhyprland.conf, sourced bind filemonitors, input, windows, workspaces, startup
Caelestiashell.json, per-monitor overrides, scheme statebar, launcher, sidebar, dashboard, session UI
Toolkit themeGTK 3/4 settings and CSSGTK application appearance
TerminalKitty and permitted Zsh configurationterminal presentation and shell behavior
Documentationaudit output and generated JSONredacted reference, not system control

The manual generator reads evidence and writes only project files. It is not part of login and cannot configure the desktop.

The audit confirmed Arch through /etc/os-release and captured permitted configuration and package inventories. hyprctl runtime queries and systemctl --user failed in the isolated audit context. Monitor placement, startup sequence, bindings, and shell modules are therefore CONFIG facts unless a stored live result explicitly says otherwise.

  1. A window-placement fault belongs first to Hyprland rules and runtime errors.
  2. A missing launcher/sidebar belongs first to Caelestia startup, JSON, and user logs.
  3. A GTK colour mismatch belongs to toolkit settings, not automatically the Caelestia scheme.
  4. A command-not-found error belongs to the executable/package layer.
  5. Stale documentation belongs to the update pipeline, not the live desktop.
